Coborn's needed to unify four separate websites into one platform that their marketing team could actually control. We built it on Sitefinity Cloud with Instacart integration, and it won a Progress Sitefinity Project of the Month award.
Coborn's is more than a supermarket chain. Based in St. Cloud, Minnesota, the employee-owned company operates multiple grocery and liquor store brands across the upper Midwest. Their digital presence, though, didn't reflect the scale or quality of the business. Four separate websites. Limited marketing control. Slow content publishing that required IT involvement for every update.
That needed to change. Coborn's came to Springthrough with a clear goal: build a single, modern web platform that could grow with them, integrate online grocery ordering, and put content control back in the hands of their marketing team.
The Challenge
Running four disconnected websites created real operational drag. Coborn's marketing team couldn't publish content without IT support. Brand consistency was hard to maintain across separate properties. And the existing sites had no path to supporting the online grocery experience their customers increasingly expected.
The company needed a platform that could consolidate those properties, scale during high-traffic periods like holiday shopping, and integrate seamlessly with Instacart for online ordering and delivery.
The Solution
Springthrough built the new Coborns.com on Progress Sitefinity Cloud with an ASP.NET Core frontend. The 15-month engagement covered architecture, Sitefinity development work, assisting with content migration, and Instacart integration work.
Key elements of the build:
- Four sites consolidated into one. All Coborn's brands now live under a single platform with consistent design, shared content infrastructure, and centralized management.
- Instacart integration. Customers can browse products and schedule grocery pickup or delivery directly through the site, connecting Coborn's brick-and-mortar inventory with a modern eCommerce experience.
- Marketing autonomy. Sitefinity's drag-and-drop page builder and WYSIWYG editor gave Coborn's marketing team the ability to create and update content without filing IT tickets.
- Auto-scaling cloud infrastructure. Sitefinity Cloud handles traffic spikes during promotions and holidays without manual intervention.
Results at a Glance
Four websites consolidated into one platform. Content publishing times cut by 50%. Marketing team fully independent from IT for day-to-day updates. Sitefinity Project of the Month winner.
Putting Marketing in Control
One of the biggest wins was operational. Before the rebuild, every content update flowed through IT. A new landing page, a seasonal promotion, a recipe feature — all of it required developer time. That bottleneck slowed down campaigns and made the marketing team reactive instead of proactive.
With Sitefinity's content management tools, Coborn's marketing team now publishes on their own schedule. As Amy Peterson, Digital Marketing Manager at Coborn's, put it: "Sitefinity gave our team the power to move faster, create more and deliver better experiences."
Publishing times dropped by 50%. The IT team was freed up to focus on higher-value work. And the marketing team gained the agility to respond to seasonal trends, community events, and competitive moves without waiting in a development queue.
Built for What Comes Next
The Sitefinity Cloud architecture gives Coborn's a foundation they can build on. The auto-scaling infrastructure handles current traffic patterns and will grow with the business. The platform's personalization capabilities, AI-assisted content tools, and enterprise governance features are all available as Coborn's digital strategy matures.
This project earned recognition from Progress as a Sitefinity Project of the Month — a reflection of the technical quality of the implementation and the measurable impact it delivered for Coborn's business.
A Partnership That Delivers
Coborn's is exactly the kind of project Springthrough was built for: a mid-market company with real operational complexity, high standards for user experience, and a need for technology that works without constant hand-holding. As a four-time Sitefinity Website of the Year award winner and Premium Sitefinity Partner, our team brought deep platform expertise and a practical approach to a project that demanded both.
